Outdoor Preparedness

As the weather starts to improve and warmer days are on the horizon, many people are making plans to get outside. Are you prepared for what nature may throw at you?

If you have not built a survival pack before, start by thinking about your plans. Are you considering a day trip? Or a week-long trip? Will you be going to a populated area, or into the backwoods? What is your experience level? After considering this information, you can begin building your pack, knowing that as you grow in your experience, what you carry will grow and change.

At the most basic level (maybe for short, day-trips in more well-traveled areas), your survival kit should include:

1. A multi-tool

2. A flashlight

3. Water

4. Fire starter

5. Poncho

6. Basic first aid kit
